SIPTU Nursing backs NIB statement on talks

Date Released: 21 Sep 2007

SIPTU’s National Nursing Council has welcomed the National Implementation Body’s statement on the complaint from the Health Staff Panel that the HSE’s Financial Break-even Plan breached the terms of Towards 2016

The Union’s National Nursing Official, Louise O’Reilly said her nursing members were glad to see the NIB recommending that the parties engage in talks to address the issues raised by the health service unions – using the services of the Labour Relations Commission if necessary.

"We are happy to comply with the terms of the statement and trust that the HSE will do likewise.

"We believe the proposals put forward by the HSE were reckless and ill thought-out.  There is no doubt that patient care will suffer if the Plan is implemented in its present form,” she said.
